Throwing your own shower???

Can I not throw myself a baby shower?? No one else wants to do it so I told everyone I was throwing one for ALL family and friends, no one left out. My mom said I'm not "allowed" to do this. She wants me to plan and PAY for a shower and put her name on it!!! She said she's too tired to plan one. I'm almost 8 months, if I put together a party I'm GOING to take credit for it! Is this a rule I'm breaking or are they nuts?
