Is morning sickness good?

I've heard that it's obviously normal! But I've also heard that it is a sign of a HEALTHY pregnancy, is this true? How can a doctor say that vomiting multiple times a day is a sign of a healthy pregnancy? I've had plenty of family members that didn't have morning sickness and have had very great babies. I had severe morning sickness. What is true?

Throwing up while pregnant doesn't mean you're healthy or not, it just means you have a million extra hormones running through you and there's a baby growing. I never actually threw up with this pregnancy but I've had severe nausea and my son and I (minus some blood pressure problems) are both very healthy. I think it's just one of those wives tales that are like "if this symptom occurs you're having a.." but it isn't accurate.

Morning sickness is normal but not having morning sickness does not mean it's an unhealthy pregnancy. Some women get sick and some don't. The ones that don't should consider themselves lucky!

Honestly, I think that's a way of making a woman suffering with it feel better... But I will say with my first pregnancy I didn't have a bit of morning sickness and it turned out to be a blighted ovum. With my second I felt better because I was constantly nauseous! I'm now hopefully a week away from meeting my daughter and liking into the eyes of the person who made me miserable for the past nine months!

Morning sickness is seen as a positive sign merely because the morning sickness cannot be present if the baby has not flourished. That said, the absence of morning sickness is definitely NOT a sign of an unviable or unhealthy pregnancy. 
Morning sickness is a symptom that some women get and some do not. That's all.

Well its said that your less likely to miscarry a baby that your getting morning sickness with. Not a definite but its less likely. I can't remember the study anymore but its super interesting. Of course many people Carry their baby's to term without morning sickness.

Yes it's a sign of a healthly baby! I didn't have it with my first pregnancy and he was a healthly 7.6lb baby boy. But with this pregnancy I had it from 7 weeks until 24 weeks! Every pregnancy is different though! But this time I'm having a girl!! Morning sickness is always a good sign just sometimes you may not get it if your lucky, but that doesn't mean it's not healthly because 9/10 it is!!

No. Morning sickness does not equal a strong viable pregnancy. Many women have little to no morning sickness and go on to carry to full term.

I had, in my opinion, very minimal morning sickness (queasy in the evenings and mornings and only actually vomitted a total of maybe 10 times) and am now 35 weeks pregnant with a super healthy baby boy.  So, while it can be a sign that hormones are increasing accordingly, I definitely do not believe it is a "sign" of a healthy baby/pregnancy.  I miscarried prior to this pregnancy and had severe morning sickness before the loss.  Every woman, and every pregnancy, is different!

It's not a sign of a healthy pregnancy. I haven't had any symptoms at all and asked my dr, and I am healthier than moat people my age. I think it's more of a reassurance thing. I don't feel pregnant because I haven't had any symptoms. But I kind of wish I had some because then I would feel a little better. But I'm lucky that I haven't had any.
