Baby's heart rate

I already had 2 prenatal appointments and with my first one the doctor just said "see that flickering? That's the babies heart beat" and that's it she didn't even try counting it. The second time I had a different doctor and she listened and I think she counted but I never got the results. I always see people posting their babies heart rates here but I never got to know mine. Anyone else had this experience?
