7 month old exposed to Rubella
Ok so last week, Wednesday the 13th, my daughter spent about an hour in close proximity to an acquaintance of ours 11 month old daughter. The little girl didn't appear sick at all. On Sunday (the 17th) evening they mentioned that their daughter had a fever. We didn't think anything of it and they didn't give any further details. Today, Friday the 22nd, my boyfriend was informed by the girls father while at work that the little girl was diagnosed with Rubella on Monday the 18th. Her rash showed up on Monday as well. I've got a call into the pediatrician but it could take up to 24 hours to hear back from the doctor. My daughter isn't showing any symptoms of sickness nor a rash but I'm still freaking out. I'm debating taking her to the ER this afternoon when her dad gets home from work ( I would call ahead of course to ensure necessary precautions are taken just in case) but I don't know if I'm overreacting. I'm also extremely irritated that the little girls parents didn't bother to tell us till today. Since I wasn't aware of possible exposure my daughter has been in close contact with her 7 month old cousin on 2 occasions since last week. So now I'm debating calling my SIL to warn her of the possible exposure even though I don't know for sure whether my daughter is infected or not. Just looking for some advice on what I should do about the ER and informing my SIL.
