Is split custody I good or bad thing?

Let's say 2 people get divorced and 1 child goes with the mother and the other child with the father

My parents tried this when I was younger and noticed right away that it wasn't working out. So they kept us two kids together and than switched days that we were at each parents house.

Everybody is different. My husband and his sister were split. They also had a fairly significant age gap. 
It was the best decision for them. Might not be for others.

My siblings were split up. My 2 younger siblings live with my mother and my older sister and I live with our dad. I can't say whether it was bad or good as I never see my mother or younger siblings.

I wanted to comment instead of putting either good or bad. It can be either or actually cause up until the end of 8th grade me and my two sibling cause my dad only had three of us but we have other siblings with different dads but anyways  I lived with my mom. But starting 9th grade I lived with my dad cause I got in a argument with my mom and she let me live with him. So it's good or bad depending. If you strongly feel it's best for them to be with you or that it doesn't matter. Cause school is a factor of they are in school. But it's not a big deal

Why would anyone want to separate siblings ???? Divorce is bad enough for a child , how would they explain their father and their sibling leaving? My parents divorced when i was 3, all my brothers are technically half siblings. It was hard only seeing them 4 days out of the month , I had a lot of separation issues because I missed them so much I didn't want to leave them. Why would anyone choose to do that if they didn't have too
