I honestly couldn't care less about the oscars or who's boycotting it and who isn't.

This is a reason as to why they need to be boycotted. The whole film industry caters to white actors and white audiences and white critics.

White people are well represented in the film industry. The majority of the films made are either mostly, if not all composed of a white cast. POC get minor/back ground character roles which often perpetuate stereotypes, or are just accessories to the white lead in the movie.

Many POC actors are reduced to the same roles over and over again due to the lack of opportunity they have in the industry. POC characters are still being cast as white people. Aloha, Peter Pan (2015), every Egyptian Pharaoh film, Prince of Persia, The Hunger Games, The Last Airbender, Argo, A Mighty Heart, Warm Bodies etc. etc.

Every award show caters to white people, even the BET that's supposed to be celebrating the merits of black people in media platforms.

Are you going to boycott the BET awards? They don't nominate any white rappers?

I think if people really cared they would talk about it more than just when the Oscar nominations came out.

If the point is to change the percentage of races in entertainment, speaking out once, only after being "snubbed" (cough Will Smith) doesn't seem sincere in my opinion.

So boycotting the oscars this year leads to black nominations next year. 
Imagine this: you are the sole black actor nominated for an Oscar. Is it because you had the talent or because they now need a token black guy on the ballot?
Does this mean we should boycott the 100m sprint at the olympica because it is always colored people winning and making it to the finals or am I racist for suggesting that?
