Is it normal for sex to throw off your regular menstrual cycle and make you have irregular periods?

My cycles have always been irregular but I've notice when I wasn't on birth control my cycle would be heavier and more irregular after unprotected sex. I had a dr guess that it's my body rejecting the implantation of the egg.

I'm not sure thinking the same thing!! As it happened to me even since I have been having sex, but maybe it also could be that your body was going to get pergnant but hasn't so that can also make your periods come late
