Sex while dilated?

I was 3cm dilated and 50% effaced at my appointment on Tuesday. Dr doesn't expect my little boy to stay in past 37 weeks (35&2 now). I'm not trying to make him come faster, I just wanted to know if sex would cause me to dilate more? Do you think it's safe? My next appointment is this coming Tuesday so I'll ask him then too. Thank you!
