When can I start shopping?

I'm only 8 weeks,  with twins so I expect having 1-2 less months than the average mom. When should I start shopping for baby stuff?

What should I get versus add to a Baby Shower registry?

Put everything on the registry! Even the expensive stuff. Most stores will send you a coupon after the shower date you give them, so anything not bought off your list is cheaper. The registry is also a good way to organize your thoughts. If you end up buying stuff early, just remember to have them mark it as purchased, but you can always return extra stuff for other stuff you need!

Mother of identical twins had them 26 weeks good thing I waited to buy clothes because they came very early. When they came home they wore preemi sizes for two months. So I think u should wait until the safe months like 7-8 months

I would say you want all the big stuff prior to the baby shower so stroller, car seat, crib, etc. I got all of that stuff for myself between 7-8 month of pregnancy.

Had my baby shower this weekend and will only need to buy a diaper pail, and baby monitors plus laundry detergent.

We started our registry around 13 weeks, shopping around 16 weeks for identical twins. We found out we lost one at 18 weeks but only had purchased a double jogger off of Craigslist for a big item, and were able to resell that again quickly! 
You could definitely start a diaper & wipe stockpile until a bit further along,  then slowly start on bigger ticket items that aren't purchased for you.
