Mirena IUD

I'm 5 weeks postpartum and I'm getting the Mirena within the next 1-3 weeks. I chose it over the copper IUD because my doctor said the copper one can cause heavier more painful periods, which was the reason I went on the pill at 16. So I definitely don't want to go back to that.

I've heard so many bad things about the Mirena, does anyone have any good experiences they can share? I'm getting nervous.
