Breastfeeding In Public

Kelsey
Okay. So I've been seeing a lot of posts and videos on facebook about women breastfeeding in public. These women were being shamed and harassed for giving their child nutrition in a place that people see as unfit. In my personal opinion, a child shouldn't have to be fed in a disgusting public bathroom while you sit there at your table eating your steak. Mother's shouldn't have to remove themselves from society and sit in secrecy to feed their child. The majority that I saw harassing the mother were men. Now tell me this, why is it okay for men to sit and watch porn, look at naked pictures of women, or stare at a woman's chest in public, but hide themselves away to feed their child? Why is it okay to see breasts as a sexual object but not as a form of nutrition? Why is it that woman are being harassed if they don't stick to the standard that society set for them? Why is it okay for men and woman to say anything to a mother feeding her child in a place that wasn't convenient but her baby needed fed? People rant and get pissed off about a baby screaming in public and feel that the mother should remove herself and the child to fix the problem. I would understand if you were changing the babies diaper at the dinner table. I would understand if they threw up, removing yourself and your child. But grown adults get to eat at a dinner table and have rights that they take pride in. Why doesn't a mother have the right to feed her baby in any setting she sees fit? Why the hell is it any of your business? Rant over..
