Tax fraud

My ex recently told me that he filed for taxes and claimed our son. He does not take care of our son, is on child support and is not really in his life. I am custodial parent. I just got my w2 in and I am concerned that if I file and try to claim my son I will get in trouble or not get anything back. What should I do and how do I do it?
