Mixing cultures

Am I the only one who is having a hard time adjusting to my SOs culture. He's half black half white but his step dad is Mexican. I love his family but it's so weird going to gatherings that never end, have food I never eat, and different standards for behavior. I'm considered rude if I don't say hi to everyone but it's awk because not all of them speak English and frankly I don't remember all the people😥
