Loss after IVF?

Hi guys, We did IVF with PGD (genetic testing) and got a BFP after doing a 5 daay FET. At the 6 week ultrasound I was diagnosed with a blighted ovum and had a D&C about a week and a half later (so 5 weeks ago). This was my ffirst pregnancy and first loss. My doctor said that it is odd this happened because we did the PGD so we knew the embryo was healthy, and I am young, so he wants to do a blood test to see if I have antibodies that could have caused this. My question is, has anyone else had a blighted ovum due to antibodies? Were you able to get pregnant?

I was 38 when we did our firsT round of IVF (without PGD). We got pregnant with strong HCG numbers and then the embryo showed that it had no heart beat at 6 weeks. We tried again and got pregnant with B/G twins. They are now 10 weeks old. Try not to be too discouraged. My heart goes out to you and I wish you luck!

I haven't had that but just wanted to give you some hope. I'm 26 and my first cycle with ivf was a chemical pregnancy. No reason just happened, we put two embabies back for our first FET and we are currently 15w with perfect twin girls. Don't give up its going to happen for you!!

We had a loss after a positive with our 2nd transfer, first IVF (plus several chemical pregnancies while naturally conceiving). Our RE had us do a recurrent miscarriage panel and nka test that showed that I had s heightened immune response so this time we used predisone 5mg 2x/daily as well as fertility acupuncture to suppress my immune response. The RE also said he has higher success with the injections than suppositories (which is my preference anyway) in these cases. I'm currently just shy of 8 weeks and will continue prednisone through week 12-13. I also had low thyroid as a spike response to pregnancy and am on Synthroid 50mcg daily - this is less likely linked to our previous loss, but might be worth asking your RE about. The meds corrected the thyroid issue almost overnight and I'll stay on them through the 2nd tri.

It's a long road of TTC/IUI/IVF cycles and FET transfers, but I think we're finally going to meet our baby this September :) Best wishes to you and everyone on this journey! Hope this helps.

Blighted ovums are a normal occurrence. A lot of miscarriages happen from that whether it's through ivf or natural. I don't know why your doctor would have told you that they could tell due to testing the embryo. They can only tell if it's a blighted ovum if a yolk sac doesn't form by around 6 weeks. I don't think it's an antibody problem. I think it's unfortunately just the luck of a draw.

I did four frozen cycles and 2 fresh. The third time I miscarried at 5.5 weeks. The fifth time was a chemical pregnancy and finally the sixth time we're pregnant with identical twins. I'm 10w4d and hoping for the best.

The entire time it wasn't working I just got shoulder shrugs and a we don't know why, there's nothing wrong with you...shit happens explanation. It sucks. Keep trying.

Sorry for your loss. Don't lose hope! I am currently pregnant through IVF but previously I had an ectopic pregnancy. In my experience, it took some time for me to get over the fact that I had "something wrong" with me. Rest assured that if they do find something in the tests, there are plenty of ways they can work around it and enable you to have a succssful pregnancy! From what I've read, it's not uncommon to have a blighted ovum after IVF even with a good quality embryo. Sometimes it's just one of those things that unfortunately "just happens". Best of luck and chances are that your next pregnancy will be a success!
