Birth control?

I'm getting the mirena iud on the 16th but I'm not sure if I want to go threw with it or not yet. Anyone with personal experiences? Experiences getting pregnant afterwards also welcome. I'm just on the fence about wether or not I should get it of not. I havnt been on any birth control for many years and I know my body really well and I'm nervous about messing my body and cycles up.

I've heard of a lot of women having difficulty getting periods and pregnant after various types of birth control. Like the IUD, and especially the deposit shot. I only had 2 injections of it and it completely messed my body up! Took nearly a year for a period and my cervical mucus was never the same after! Best type of BC you can do that won't affect conceiving is the pill. I think that's thee safest way to go! Good luck!

I got Mirena placed Jan '15, so it's been a year now. I'm 27, never had kids. I have a regular period with it, but because it still has hormones in it, I don't get bad period symptoms like I did without any birth control. So, I still get some mild cramps and slight moodiness on my period, but that's all.

I've also had regular (2-3x a week) unprotected sex with my SO and no pregnancies. I really would recommend you give it a try! It's effective up to 5 years, and you can have it removed if you ever change your mind and you regain your fertility right away.

I just had mine removed 2 weeks ago, I had it in for 4.5 years and never thought much of side effects since I was told they were minimal to none... I constantly felt bloated, shed a lot of hair, little sex drive and acne came back after years of no breakouts. Now that I've had it removed I feel like a new woman! My skin is clearing up and don't feel bloated or bogged down! I will never put one back in my body. I spent almost 5 years feeling BLAH, and really wish I would have made the connection to my Mirena.

I do have to give it credit for protecting me from an unwanted pregnancy.
