Promise Rings

Has anyone received a promise ring from their boyfriend/girlfriend? How far into the relationship was it when you got it? I want more information because I'm thinking about asking my bf if we can get one. Can you even ask for one or is that totally not cool? I'm so lost as to how this works! I know what a promise ring means, generally speaking. I'm just not sure how to go about talking to him about getting one. Anything helps!! Thanks! :D

I got mine after about 2.5 years. You could casually bring it up but I wouldn't flat out say you want one because maybe he's not ready for that. Just put the idea in his head and let him decide from there!

This is mine that he gave me after 8 months on Easter. I never asked, he just surprised me. I'd just casually bring it up. Don't say it all straightforward

I've known my boyfriend for 15 years and we're both almost 19. He gave me a promise ring 6 months into our relationship(collectively about 4 years) and I think he's planning on proposing sometime this ear cause he's kinda hinting at it!! But if I were you I would hint at them and ask him if he's ever thought about considering you two getting them? But don't be too pushy or else he won't want to. Typically the girl is the only one who wears a promise ring but in this day and age I think guys can wear them too.

My boyfriend is planning on giving me one probably on Valentine's Day. I never even brought it up, he's the one who asked me if I wanted one and made me pick it. We've been together for a year and I'm really excited.

I got mine after about a year, on Valentine's Day out on a dinner date with him and his parents.

I got mine after one year of dating then we got matching necklace of a heart we both kep half that was on our second year

After reading the post you made after this I think promise rings would be acceptable but like the one girl said don't just flat out say it just mention them

My friend gave her boyfriend one at their three months and he claimed he'd get her one but hasn't yet. I don't think you should ask for them because the guy might not know if he wants to be with you forever yet.
