Frank breech

I almost 32 weeks with my first baby and he is still frank breech. My doctor said they can try to flip him around 34-36 weeks if I choose.  I was just wanting to know more about how they do this and how effective it actually is? And if it's painful and or stressful for the baby? My doctor also said they would schedule me for a c section if he doesn't flip on his own or with help. Anyone had to have their baby flipped and did it work? Please, any advice/experience negative or positive I would love to hear!
