Relationships are really hard and so adding a major difference like religious beliefs when both parties are really into their religion or lack thereof is too much stress for me

It really really depends. As long as you both are respectful I don't see a problem. If they are constantly trying to convert you that won't work.

I'm an atheist. My first husband was Catholic. We ended up divorcing because he acted in very un-catholic ways, but religion put a strain on us outside of that. It is hard to be with someone when you differ on such a fundamental issue.

I wouldn't say I WONT date someone the same religion as me. I totally would. And do. But if they don't have the same beliefs as me then that's not a deciding factor.

The only thing that really matters with this is mutual respect.

I lack religion so.

It depends. I can try to date someone that is religious so long as our core values are similar. 
For example you can be Christian and I'd date you, but if you're against human rights and women's reproductive rights, because of religion or not, I'm dumping you. I can't date someone who thinks that their religion should hold sway in everyone else's lives.

For the most part though I attract atheistic and agnostic partners though and I don't have to worry about such things. My current BF and I do fine. I'm a LV satanist and he's an atheist.

I am the type of person who falls in love with "the person" as a whole, not their religion.

It's funny now I think of it bc I don't remember ever asking my bf, now hubby 21 yrs ago, what his religion was.

😂 I think I read this weird... Do I believe in it like believing in fairies?... But I totally get it - I believe in dating someone of the same religion and of the same nationality or race. I believe in dating someone of a totally different religion and race/ethnicity/background.  I believe that you should date whoever YOU are attracted to, period. No one else should tell you otherwise.  I'm Jewish, my husband is agnostic or possibly atheist.  I simply don't care, because I love him and we respect each other.  I did have one caveat - that we raise our kids Jewish and then give them the choice to stick with it. That is crucial to me. And he agrees. He could me Muslim, Christian, Buddhist, black, Hispanic, Asian... Don't care. I just love him.

I wouldn't date a non Christian man. Been there done that and it's not for me.
