Cold sores?!!

Anyone have any situations of a family member or friend kissing baby with a cold sore in the healing stages (no weeping)? Is it spreadable if they kiss to baby's leg or feet? Is it contagious only by saliva to saliva, or also saliva to skin? Ugh...

Why would they even want to kiss your baby if they have a cold sore,😖. Don't let them kiss your baby anywhere!

Never risk it. If they get cold sores they should understand. I get them once a year and I am super anal about keeping my distance from my daughter and she's 4. I don't want her to ever get them. I never let her use my Chapstick even when I don't have one and I wash my hands constantly. If I see someone else with one I politely ask them to not kiss or share any food or drinks with her. I started getting them when I was two because of a family member. Never risk it.

I wouldn't let them kiss my baby anywhere with a cold sore. It's very dangerous for them if they catch that especially if you didn't get them while pregnant. They don't have the antibodies built up to help fight it. Google it, it's scary.

The virus has to find its way into the body so kissing the legs should be ok if there are no open wounds on baby! Also after day 5-7 they aren't as contagious it's the starting point that's scary.

Oh hell naw!!  I'm not even sure I'd let someone with a cold sore hold my baby!!  Who the hell does that anyway?  Anyone with a cold sore should know better than to kiss when they have one. Gross.

It is really dangerous if a baby gets a coldsore, they don't have the stuff inside to fight off the virus. Just explain to them that you don't want them to kiss you until they are coldsore free, they probably just didn't think. I don't think anyone would be offended!!
