Problem... Advice??
So my husband's family is throwing us a baby shower. No problem there, that's actually super nice. I love his family, too. The problem is that his aunt told this baby photographer to send me a friend request. I don't accept requests from people I don't know, but I am also a photographer. They're all this kind of tight-knit southern country folk and it's a 2-hour drive to even get there. So
1. I feel strongly about wanting to take my own child's photos.
2. If I wanted family photos, my sister is also a photographer. They know this.
3. Why would I drive 2 hours with an infant for photos that I can take for free in our own home?
4. If I say no, I'll offend EVERYONE.
I just don't understand where her logic even came from. I don't know how to say no without it being awkward or hurting someone's feelings. And I don't just want to say yes because that's potential for a sizeable monetary commitment that I don't want or need on top of baby expenses. I don't like that she told some random person that is accept their friend request, either. I know that's how a lot of people use Facebook, but personally if I don't know you and talk to you, you're not on my friends list. I have zero problems with drama and Facebook awkwardness that way and that's how I like it. I like sharing pictures and stories and links with people I know. I don't want strangers all up in my private life and I don't want to have to double check settings with every post. UGH!!!! Help, please?
