When will they offer a membrane sweep?

I have my 38 week appointment this week, my doctor already told me she would check my cervix, but I'm curious when they start offering a membrane sweep?

My dr won't do it until guaranteed lung maturity at 39 weeks. I'll be 38 weeks tomorrow and since last week I was already 2 cm dilated and my cervix was very thin and soft, she scheduled my sweep for 39 weeks.

You have to ask but normally won't until 39 weeks

My doctor does it at the 38 week appointment. There's absolutely no harm in having it done, it'll only work if your body is ready for labour. If it's not, then the sweep will have no affect.

During my first pregnancy I asked my dr and she wouldn't do it unless I went past my due date!

I had mine yesterday at 38w6d. They are going to do it again at 39w6d (my due date is on a Saturday) if he doesn't come by then.

I had mine at 37 weeks. And had my baby 4 days later. I'd ask my doctor about it and see if she'll do it then
