For moms using nipple shields who want to wean off them, don't give up! Getting my boy to latch without them was so hard... Even a good latch with them could be hard. I got him without and the for a couple weeks, he'd scream if I even tried. But last week, I patiently got him to latch two feedings without them and he was instantly done with them!! Offered him with the shield that night and he didn't want it. We've been shield free ever since and his latch is improving each day! He's 8 weeks and it's only now starting to feel natural. Those shields are the ONLY reason I was able to breastfeed. But if you're hoping to wean your babe off, don't give up! 😊
