PERIOD WON'T STOP!!! PLEASE HELP

Hi ladies i don't know if this has happened to any of you but its my second time my period has lasted for a very long time. Last time it lasted a whole month and this time it's been 20 days...I don't know what to do...I'm scared that maybe something is wrong with me....I have been to the doctor the first time it happened and I told him that my period wouldn't stop..he didn't even check me of anything he just gave me some stupid pills saying it would help regulate my period...I'm so lost and confused why this is happening to me..Can anyone please help
