Kidney infection or stone??

I am at a loss. I have terrible lower left back pain. I even thought I wa s having a miscarriage and went to the ER yesterday morning. They said our baby is fine. My whole body hurts like I have the flu, but my lower left back pain is excruciating. They said I have a UTI and gave me a prescription for Macrobid. I have had many UTI's before, but have never had pain like this. I went to my OBGYN this morning and he just said I have a UTI. He said if I had a kidney infection or stone I would be rolling on the floor in pain. He said to take Tylenol 3(which is Tylenol with Codeine) and continue taking macrobid. The Tylenol 3 just made me really groggy and drowsy. I tried to sleep but the pain is awful. Idk what to do...

I've had several kidney stones and yes about half of them made my lower back hurt so bad that I was throwing up and had to go to the ER. However i've had super small ones that made my lower back hurt a lot but not enough where I had to go to the hospital. My advice would be to drink a ton of fluids like water and lemonade (doctors recommend lemonade because the citric acid helps break down stones). If it is a stone and you drink fluids constantly you will eventually pass it and pee it out.

Finally, a diagnosis!! I have been in Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah, Ga for almost a week. I have seen so many doctors, and they finally told me I have a condition called Interstitial Cystitis. The prognosis isn't the best, but at least I now have a diagnosis. Now I am working with specialist to create a treatment plan for the rest of the pregnancy. Thank God for answers and helping me through this journey!

I got a kidney stone with my first pregnancy. It started as a dull ache and in about 10 minutes the pain went through the roof. The pain was so bad I couldn't sit still and made me very sick. They thought I was having back labor the pain was so bad. If it gets like that I'd go to the hospital.

So it has been two weeks. Two HORRIBLE weeks. The pain has not let up. Two more ER trips plus one 4 day hospital stay later... my obgyn has finally agreed to send me to a urologist, but in order for the urologist to see me I have to see a high risk pregnancy doc. I feel so helpless. I've never been in this much pain, and definitely never this long. My obgyn tried to say I was making up the pain and that I need to see my psychiatrist. (I have schizoaffective disorder, but thanks to God that condition is well under control) I think the stone has moved because the pain is now in my left pelvis. I have blood in my urine and have lost a good bit of weight. I want my baby to be healthy! Does it usually take this long to pass kidney stones? I feel like I'm going to die before they help me...

I had a kidney infection from a uti i had that i didnt even know about. I was not on the floor rolling in pain because i was constantly running back and forth from the bed to the bathroom to throw up. I couldnt hold down any foods or liquids including water. If i drank or ate anything i would throw it up about 5 min later. I also had a fever of 105. My whole body was pain and i was very dehydrated. It sounds like you have a bad uti.

I was in your shoes a couple weeks ago. I had been to the er twice for them to put me antibiotics and tell me I had a uti. I am 21 weeks pregnant so when I went for my appointment I told her what was going on and she sent me for a ultrasound on my kidneys. Turns out I have cluster of kidney stones. They aren't moving that's why the pain isn't like uncontrollable but the fact they are there and with the baby moving and growing it irritates them causing the back pain. So even though it's not horribke pain it can still be kidney stones. Everyone keeps telling me to eat lemons or make lemonade out of real lemons that this will help dissolve them. Worth a shot if you can stand it!
