Throwing your own baby shower..

So, I don't talk to my side of the family for reasons to long to explain. My husbands mother has offered us to use her place for baby shower. Just wondering if it looks bad I have to throw my own? Or should I not worry about it? It'll just be his family and a few friends..This is my 4th boy after 6 years. So got rid of most of our stuff but buying big products on our own.
