Period and donating blood? Is it possible?

Im scheduled to donate blood tomorrow and just got my period today and i have some questions. 1) can i take pamprin beforw i donate and 2) can i even donate  while i have my period?

I definitely can't, every time I've tried my iron has been too low. Even if you could it's a pretty big double whammy, donating blood does not make you feel great for the rest of the day, I would assume it would hit you harder if you're on your period

It's recommended not to take any form of medication or pain killers up to three days before giving blood, so that would be my main concern. As for your period, it depends how heavy your flow is and what your iron levels are like. You will likely feel a little more lightheaded and weak afterwards than on a different day, so maybe make sure you have a reliable way of getting home just in case you can barely stand! (Also take some juice boxes with you 😜)

I'm supposed to give blood tomorrow too at my college, but the last two times I donated on my period were soooo awful. They say it's fine, but man I was so sick. It was so hard to stay hydrated after that and my period cramps hurt worse than normal. I'm supposed to start my period again tomorrow, and right now, me donating blood isn't looking like such a great idea. 😅
