To induce or not?

Question

I'm currently 39 weeks and 1 day. I have a feeling this baby won't com on her own and my doctor has given me the option to induce but I won't be doing that until I'm past 40 weeks. I would just like to hear some induction stories and how everything's done, :)

Talk with your doctor about pros and cons. Everyone talks about the "snowball effect" inductions can have and so on but every aspect of labor has potential dangers. Waiting until 42 weeks can also have its risks, nothing is 100% safe so it's just up to you to do a sort of cost-benefit analysis! You'll make the right decision!!! Good luck!

Inductions, just as any other medical procedure (including natural birth), has its pros and cons. Talk to your doctor about it...

Induction can start a snowball effect of interventions and it significantly increases your chances at a c-section. This happened with my first - he was born via emergency csection for "distress"... But distress that only happened because of drugs and hormones the doctors had given me. I horribly, horribly regret being induced. And he came out and had some health issues, he was clearly not done cooking. This time I'm going all the way until 42 weeks to go on my own before ill even let a doctor or midwife mention any inductions - even membrane sweeping. Do what you feel is best for you but if you have Netflix "Business of being Born" is a great, entertaining documentary about inductions and interventions to watch and inform yourself. 
Every day that passes without my little girl here I just think "this is one more night of sleep I got and one more full day of cooking she got!"
