Is our name too weird?

Question

My husband and I both love the name Pehr (usually a boy name but we are having a girl) and it goes with our last name well. It's Scandinvavian, which is my husband's heritage. We are just worried she'll get crap for having a name that sounds like a fruit (it's pronounced exactly like "pear"). We've already gotten comments like "Just don't name your kid Apple like that one celebrity did" from a couple people who had NO IDEA we were considering the name Pehr. Lol! 🙈

Looking for honest thoughts on this unique name. We have a couple others we like but this is the one that has really stuck and we've been calling her it for months. Middle name would be June, a family name, so her initials a would be PJ, which I think is a cute nickname.

I think it's cute. There's no "normal" anymore and since its short and easy to pronounce, I say it's a winner 😊👍🏼

I like the name, its cute. and who cares if it's pronounced like a fruit. it's your husbands heritage all you can do is introduce your daughter explain the name and move on. I say go for it because it's your child and your name and your happiness! I wouldn't let a cruel minded individual stop you guys! Go Pehr!

If you've been calling the baby Pehr for months then that's her name!  Don't worry about what others think.  If you love it, do it!  My name is Shane and I'm female.  My only disappointment growing up was not being able to find personalized junk at the tourist shops for a girl.  If they had my name, it was for a boy.  I don't mind my name now.  Good luck

Suprised there's no negativety on here yet! I personally like it. I mean, it's different and unique but that's nice! I'm a nanny to four boys who are all brothers and their names are Journey, Jesse, Atlas and Rock. Yes, Rock. Haha I'm 23 weeks and plan on naming our daughter Autumn Rose!

I love it for a nickname, I don't really see it as odd with the names we have these days. If it's what makes you guys most happy go for it.

I like it! I understand your worries because I also don't get those "unique" names that's just going to make life a little harder for the child, but I do like your name. I think it's because it's simple enough and the association to a pear isn't that bad. I mean lots of people are named after flowers etc, it's not like you write it as "pear" and personally I find it just a very cute name.
