I planned and did everything for my sister for her baby shower... Didn't really know there was a certain way to do it. It was my idea no one asked me to do it. I wanted to. That's my sister.

I think the old school way of doing things would be a close friend or friend of the family or a family member not the immediate family would offer to do it. My mom and grandmas always say it's tacky when a person throws one for herself or when someone from her immediate family does. If someone offers to do it though and you're comfortable with it then I don't see anything wrong with it
