Preparing for the afterbirth?!

Okay so my first was a c section. I'm planning on a VBAC (😳) this time. I've purchased Ina May and Hypnobirthing book. Watched a lot of videos. I'm planning on going all natural with no epidural. But, no videos seem to show the afterbirth. Haven't gotten the books yet, so they may touch on it. But mommas - what was the afterbirth like? The mashing and the delivery of the placenta.

You're so busy with your baby at that point you don't even notice it coming out. As soon as my kids are born (I have 2) they're immediately placed on my chest and I'm in love! I did feel something watery, squishy and warm flop out but I didn't really pay any mind to it.

My daughter was wisked away cause the cord wrapped around her neck and they needed to make sure she was ok I was worried about her and tried to get hubby to go to her but after she came out the pain intensified ×20 (it was a long hard horridly painful complicated birth to begin with) it was so painful I started blacking out and couldn't speak just crying uncontrollably clutching at my stomach in horrid pain. Finally I was able to scream it hurts it hurts over and over. My husband was terrified (and wouldn't leave me to go to our daughter) I was terrified. The dr just stared and said your fine it's already over like I was just some fucking lunatic. He then finally pulled my placenta out (they just pull the cord and out it pops I always thought you had to push it out like the kid!) after it was out the pain lessened a lil bit but I still had an excruciating pain in my uterus and then the nurses started massaging my stomach causing me to scream in pain again and beg them to stop but they wouldn't. I almost punched them in the face it hurts so damn much. I still don't know why I was suddenly in such excruciating pain right after having her and hope it doesn't happen again this time. Really thought giving birth would be the most painful part!

I gave birth naturally (no meds) and my doctor after the birth massaged my stomach and I barely felt it come out :)

I honestly would have never known it was coming out of my dr didn't tell me it was. I didn't feel it. ( my epidural had quit working at the end so I felt my daughter come out) I was very wrapped in seeing my daughter so that could be why. They had her near me but I couldnt hold her yet so she was all I was focused on. But everyone Is different and has different experiences so maybe more input will help.
