IUD REMOVED

So I recently got my Mirena removed and I asked for the pill. I have been on the pill before and never had a pregnancy scare or anything like that but I have been reading that your super fertile once you get ur IUD out. So my question is how quick has anyone gotten pregnant after mirena removal and should I use another type of birth control for extra help like a condom or something.
