Breastfeeding with nipple piercings?

Question

So, have any some of you ladies have you're nipples pierced before you had a baby and if so, has it effect your breast to feed? Or you couldn't because of that. Because I plan on breastfeeding in the future but I don't wanna take them out if I don't ever end up pregnant this year.. Any suggestions?

The piercing itself won't affect anything, but you have to take them out for sure because it's a choking hazard. And honestly, I'd just take them out and leave them out and hope they don't close up because imagine having to take them out while you've got a crying hungry baby and having to put them back in over and over again. All day every day. It would probably cause more irritation than its worth. If they do close up you can always get them repierced later!

I havent breastfed because I lost my son before that chance, but I use to have my nipples pierced and it didnt effect my milk supply. Hope I could be of any help. Xx

I had my nipples pierced and I breastfed until she didn't want to. It worked very well no problems at all! :)

I had mine done and I did research and I know you can breastfeed with them pierced but I believe you do have to take them out or else you will leak. They need to clog up and the piercing have move and break that clog constantly. Once they're out your milk will likely come out of the piercing hole instead but will likely be easier for the baby to drink from anyways. Not 100% sure if it's impossible to keep them in, best person to ask would be your doctor.
