What type of sleeping system do you prefer for your newborn?

I'm due in the end of May and I am trying to decide on what type of sleeping product I want to use for our little girl during the first year of co sleeping. My cousin swears by the Rock and play sleeper because she can strap her son in and there is mesh on the sides so he could still breathe if he turned over. He's 9 months and still sleeps in it through the night. Also I think the slight incline would help with breathing, plus it's portable and doesn't take up much room. I've also heard that many people like to use pack and plays as a sleeper for the first year. Or do you prefer a bassinet? Please let me know your opinions on your favorite products!

I have used the Arm's reach co-sleeper for all 5 (soon to be 6) kids. I adore it! If you plan to co-sleep up to a year I would highly recommend the full sized version. It's fantastic!!!

Chicco portable bassinet at target is amazing. On the bigger side so baby can be in it longer. I love mine.

Pack n play or crib is what all major medical groups recommend. The rock n play isn't really a sleeper. Our son has severe reflux and was played to use that until it's under control BUT we were warned of the risks. Our son thankfully has good head control but when laying him in it still pushes his head towards his chest. That can cut off their airway which is why an incline isn't recommended. For reflux they recommend raising mattress 30* but our kids turn so much in sleep that the go sideways and slide down. Once our son can be laid flat out of the rock n play he will come.

We are on our 4th baby and I've used my Arms Reach Cosleeper with all of them all well. I love it.

The Rock and play isn't intended for long term sleep. A lot of people use it, but it's definitely not approved to be used as people use it.

Rock n play saved my sanity with my first, second, and will do will my third as well. It was the best $50 we spent in 2011. My son went from waking every 1-2 hours to sleeping 4-5 straight. He hated being flat, and the pack n play wasn't cutting it.

With my first we did the bassinet for the first 3 months then the crib.

With my second we're going straight to the crib but have a twin bed set up in the nursery so I can sleep near the baby without disturbing my husband.

By the time I'm done with the twin bed my son will have outgrown his toddler bed so it'll become his "big boy" bed and the toddler bed will go into storage until we need it again.
