Opinions needed

So my husband is horrible at buying gifts, always has been. So he tells me if I see something I like/want to send him a link or picture so he has ideas when he wants to buy me a gift. I had sent him several ideas of rings that I liked for Valentine's Day gifts. Instead of buying me one he told me to pick out one I like and he would just buy it for me. I'm on the fence about how I feel about this because me picking it out seems like it's not very personal but I also know he isn't good at gifts.  What would you ladies do in this situation? Pick one out and appreciate the "gift" or wait and make him buy one himself?
