Anyone have eczema, asthma, or allergies?

Or does your partner? My daughter's pediatric dermatologist was telling me that recent research shows that if your baby is predisposed to atopy (cuz you or baby's other parent has eczema, asthma, and/or allergies/hay fever), lathering your baby up with a hypoallergenic cream - like Vanicream - every day for the first six months of their life can significantly reduce the chance of their later developing atopic conditions. It's obviously not a guarantee, but bolstering their skin barrier very early in life can improve their chances of being atopy-free! As a parent to a child with eczema and multiple food allergies, I would give anything to go back in time and try preventive measures. I will definitely be trying this when my son is born.
