Glider a must have or optional?

FTM here and just started my baby registry. I'm hearing mixed things about getting a glider for the nursery. Is it a must have or more of a luxury? Will a comfy chair do?

Gliders (especially with a gliding ottoman) are very nice to have. In the beginning, it got me through many midnight nursing sessions. Later on, they are great for snuggling and looking at books.

We love using ours. It has become one of my favorite spots in the house. To me it was an essential and well worth it.

Great for late-night feedings, especially if breast feeding. I never really used the gliding footrest though, so you could probably do without that.

Ill be a first time mommy too but in my opinion definitely just a luxury. I know lots of people without one who have managed just fine HOWEVER we are getting one as a gift from my father in law and his wife and i believe it will be quite handy. :)

You really do want a chair that either rocks or glides. It will be easy to rock the baby back to sleep. I had a glider with my 1st and it was great. I'm 36+4 and just got a rocker this time. I had one with my 2nd and loved having the rocker. I would for sure say must have!!

Luxury we don't have a chair at all in the nursery and don't need it

We have a swivel rocking chair and I love it! In the beginning my daugter actually didn't like being rocked, but now at almost 2 years old we use it everyday before naps and bedtime to read stories in and un wind. Ol we don't have an ottoman and I'd definitely recommend getting one.

My sister loved to be rocked in the glider when she was a baby and we got one for our son when he finally decides to come!!!

It's  a "nice to have" thing in the nursery in my opinion. With my son, I cheaped out and refused to buy one figuring it would only get about 3 or 4 months of use, and those things aren't cheap! I used our office chair instead, which you could lean back in, but it was far from a rocker - I made do, and had a sore back to prove it. Long story short, we have a glider for baby #2 :)
