Birth control

So I started my first birth control and I'm down to those green pills where my period is suppose to start. But I started birth control in the beggining of my last period and I've been spotting ever since, spotting like a brown discharge and now yesterday it started turning more red like blood. And more is coming out. It's In between light and medium and I can't tell if my period actually started or im just still spotting? Any help for this please?
