Birth Announcements?

Question

Are any of you going to make and send out birth announcement cards after you have your babies? What are some reasons that people do that?

I'm planning on sending announcements. I have family all over the place, who aren't able to visit once he's born. So an announcement is my way of sending them the details, along with new born pictures. I really like sending personalized cards out cause everything is so electronic now. I know that I cherish when someone actually took the time to send me things in the mail.

I'm doing them. Similar to a PP I love custom photo products. I also haven't posted any social media pics and want to share pics with relatives who are scattered around the country & not on FB. 
 I think it's a great keepsake for older family members who still do photo albums or put up pics around the house. I even did a happy new year postcard with a collage of maternity pics, as a form of announcing to family I'm not in constant contact with & friends who won't see my preggo. People feel more included when they get these, that's why I do them.

We're doing them. The cards are already designed although the printer is holding off on running them until we have the final actual details (weight, both date).

I'm a stationery fanatic so love any legitimate reason to send out custom stationery. :) Also, I'm old school.

We kept the pregnancy off social media until 35 weeks with just one post showing some maternity pics. I think we'll do the same with the birth. Keep it off social media until our closest friends and family have received the announcements.

No reason behind the announcements other than sharing the great news. We're certainly not including anything like registry information.

Hahahaha we send out a cute text with pics everyone will have already seen or heard the news before mail could get to them I think it's a cute idea tho
