How to get rid of fleas?

My puppy has a bad case of the fleas, and it makes me feel so bad to see him itch, dig, ect and not be able to do anything for him. 😣

Okay, depending on how old your puppy is a vet will tell you regular dawn dish soap is all you're going to be able to use. All flea shampoos/medications are for pups over 12 weeks because the chemicals are too harsh and they're at risk of having an allergic reaction which would cause seizures. If your pup is over 12 weeks, use a flea and tick shampoo and your choice of preventative. Treat your yard, your house, and your dog...fleas multiply fast so get the infestation under control.

You will need to treat your dog and your home for fleas. Fleas get all over your home so if you treat the dog but not your home the problem will never end. Give your dog a flea bath - they sell the shampoos at the pet store. Flea bomb your home, vacuum and pour borax on your carpets.

You can also buy capstar pills. The fleas on your dog should die and fall off within 24 hours of taking it.

I am a vet tech. If your puppy is older than 8 weeks you need to get a preventative like frontline or Nexgard. Topical treatments can not be put on 24hrs before or 24hrs after a bath. You can also get flea bombs for your house and vacuum vacuum vacuum anything and everything you can (couches, chairs, beds, dog beds, carpet, rugs etc.) wash bedding in extra hot water. You can give a flea bath but only if your puppy is older than 8 weeks. Not sure where you live but preventative year round is highly suggested especially in the south. Now where I'm from (Iowa)fleas die in the winter. Hopefully this helps.

Comfortis works wonders for fleas. Has to be one of the best out there but I'm pretty sure you can only get it at the vet.

Start treating with Frontline immediately! If you give your dog a flea bath, you'll need to wait an extra 3-4 days before using front line because the fur needs to be a little dirty for the front line to cling to and then absorb into the skin. Frontline gets absorbed into the blood stream, so as long as your dog is getting treated, any flea that bites will immediately die. When we had fleas, I invested in the bombs, carpet powders, upholstery sprays, but none of it works. If you really want to get them out of your house, you will need to hire a professional cleaning service that specializes in fleas and household pests. They usually guarantee that their service works and if the fleas come back, they will come and clean your home a second time at no charge. But, if you treat your dog with Frontline regularly, the fleas in your home will eventually jump on him/her and die that way. We had fleas with our 2 cats and all I did was treat them with Advantage -- it's been 3 months and I haven't seen a flea in about 6 weeks. They are a tough problem to get rid of, but just make sure your pets are treated and you will be fine.

Take him to the vet they do flea baths,  bomb your house with the flea bombs the ones that have the tiger on them. Buy some ortho insect killer for the outside of your yard to kill the fleas that are outside , or you can get some I think it's called lime powder they should sell it at your local hardware store and that will get rid of them.
