Cloth diapers?

I've decided to be brave and switch from disposable to cloth diapers for this baby. I was encouraged by my cousin, who is making this switch for her twins due in April.

Even though she showed me how the diapers work (super easy!) I am still feeling a bit overwhelmed by all of the cloth diaper and insert types, and the various accessories that go with them.

Has anyone been using cloth diapers? Any advice or recommendations to offer as far as diaper type (all-in-one, two-in-one, etc) or favorite brand you've used? How about diaper pails vs. wet bags?

I also primarily used Bum Genius diapers. How ever they are pricey. I will be replacing a few diapers for this baby. I will be buying Just simply baby diapers this time. They have kits and you can get kits for about $10 each.

First off, good for you- easier than people think, better environmentally, and saves you a ton of $.

I used prefolds in the first month cause you can custom fit your lil one. Then I used them as an extra liner at night when she was older. Wool covers are great at night too!

I like the all-in-ones because they don't slip around, but it really depends on the shape of your baby. You may want to buy a few and see if they work first. I used a pail in the bathroom and a bag in her room- no soaking. I found that powdered soap (I used sunlight) worked best and did not clog the diapers. I also hung up the outsides to dry- dryer can ruin the waterproof lining. You can hang the liners in the sun and it will kill bacteria. I would wash them twice in hot water or boil them once every month/ every other month.

I personally use pocket diapers. They trend to dry faster than All in one diapers but need to be stuffed. To me stuffing the diapers was easy enough to dosent take too long.

Loved cloth diapers with my second girl.  Will for sure be using cloth again. I loved the disposable liners though as it made getting rid of solid waste much easier.  Vinegar to wash was amazing and no nasty chemicals for baby. Good luck.

We cloth diapered our first from 5mths old on.  Baby #2 is getting the alva set for newborn since we don't have that size.  I'm really looking forward to cloth diapering again.  I loved the prints, and took satisfaction in folding all the diapers after waking and drying (weird I know.).

I used a bunch of different kinds. As my son got older I was constantly switching around which were my go to favorites (all have pros and cons) I really like Nickis brand. Great price and great diapers! I teach a cloth diaper class at my hospital. Look around maybe there are classes around you. I bring my stash so parents can get hands on with the diapers. I love cloth and I'm excited to cloth this little one too.

I will be using pockets mostly for the price. A co worker however didn't like them and switxhed tononly AIO. So she's thankfully giving me her old pocket stash.

I wanted to go pockets because they dri faster (so I hear) and I am going to mostly hang dry to make them last longer.

Hi mama. I'm absolutely obsessed with CDs I've been CDing my 18 month old for like 13 months or so .  With the first we used all pocket style diapers.  But I actually won an AI2 diaper a few months ago and I think I really love that style more. The whole stuffing diapers things has gotten old for me.  Cding is really not difficult though. I always hear isn't it gross cleaning the poop I'm like no not really either way disposable or cloth your dealing with poop bc with disposables poop always ends up the kids back and legs and everywhere that has never happened with cloth with me.
