What do contractions feel like? How would you best describe them?

Like my uterus was being ripped apart. Completely debilitating. Take the worst period pain you've ever had and multiply it by infinity. Tight. Like you're getting stabbed multiple times. Nauseating.

Early contractions felt like Braxton hicks but a little uncomfortable. I could feel the tightness but could still walk around and have a conversation and such not.

My contractions hurt so bad I had to stop what I was doing and breathe. You'll know you're having them. They're much more painful than Braxton hicks.

I've heard people describe them as extremely intense period cramps or intense diarrhea pains. I'm 37 weeks and have been feeling some but nowhere near as painful as they could be, I'm sure. I'm curious too! I've read so many people say on here that they had no idea they were in labor because they didn't experience bad contractions. That's terrifying!
