TAMPONS FOR THE FIRST TIME

I was so determined to try a tampon for the first time today. I couldn't do it. It hurt to much. I made sure I was doing it right but I couldnt get it all the way in. Only about half way and it started to hurt and wouldn't budge. Anyone had this problem on the first try???
