Idk what I'm doing!?

Question

I'm pregnant with my first, unplanned. I have no experience with babies. I was the youngest in my family, I was never around children growing up. How am I going to learn what to do having a baby? I'm freaking out. I don't know how to change a diaper. I don't know how much to feed my baby, or when. Or sleep schedules. I'm sure it comes naturally, but it's so overwhelming to me now.

Girl, mine was planned and I don't know anything either! I bet our moms didn't know with their first either. It's okay. Try to talk to any moms you know and the hospital will teach you a lot before you go home!

Classss help! There's free ones in most communities, look and see if the hospitals in your area offer them.

You're right, most things will come naturally; that or by one or two tries in you'll know what you're doing. :)

Take all other mommas advice with a grain of salt though! What's true or what works for your friend may not work for you.

All I can say is don't stress, sure it's overwhelming knowing a little human will be relying on your for the next few years to come but it will all come naturally! I was just like you and have been doing a good job in the last 20 months and pregnant with baby #2. Once you hold your baby your motherly instincts will kick in and you'll realise this is exactly what you were put on this earth to do ☺️ good luck

All I can say is there is no right or wrong way to be a parent. There is no instruction manual on how to be ready to be a mom. But when that little angle comes your mommy intinvts will just click and it will come naturally. I promise you that. Don't stress yourself. We have all been in your shoes as new moms and even as parents with multiple children. But all that matters is you love and care for that baby with all your heart. The rest will fall into place.

Check out a lemaz class or two; I had my first at 18 and everything seemed to come naturally. I was lucky enough that she slept through the night since birth and was on a great schedule on her own; now on my 5th and each one was and is still like that too! It's way better then what I expected so I freaked out for no reason... Calm down! You'll do great and one day laugh about this stress!

try to get a book or two to read. I found one of the baby whisperer books (tracy hogg) quite useful in terms of setting up a routine. most of the book is for later ages but still useful later on. not everything comes naturally.... breastfeeding can be a major challenge (but try not to get discouraged) if that is what you choose to do. you will learn the ropes though, it will be ok :)

I was a nanny for many years, raised both my sisters, been around babies all my life and I'm pregnant with my first. I'm nervous too! But it's ok, the nurse will give you all the information you need to care for baby they will help you breastfeed or bottle feed if that is you're choice and burp them. They'll show you how to change baby and when you take them home and it becomes a routine you will be in synch I promise do not stress ask you're doctor any question you may have about anything there's no such thing as a stupid question. You will be fine darlin congratulations on you're pregnancy
