10 wks and spotting

I know this is TMI but I'm 10 wks and have heavy brown spotting. It looks like old blood. I went to the Dr when it was light brown spotting and they said everything was ok. I'm trying not to worry my friend says it's probably ok. I'm trying to not worry and stay positive has anyone else experienced this?
