Break up due to long distance.

I just met someone in October 2015 he was 36 and I'm 27 we started talking and by nov 6 we were in a relationship. He had been divorced and single for 4 years he had not brought a woman home to meet his family or his kids I was the first. He wanted me to meet his three kids a 15 yr old 12 yr old and 8 yr old. So I had him meet mine an 8 yr old and 2 yr old. We were doing amazing we had never met someone we connected to so quickly he told me he loved me, we even had a talk about sex that we would wait until marriage due to religious reasons. We never did fight about anything or had an argument during the time we were together. It just seemed too perfect I guess. My kids and his got along and I loved his kids I would even have them over my house when I could. He got a job offer he couldn't resist about 4 hrs away from our town and well he took it and broke it off immediately. He explained to me all his plans he had that he was going to do and I was not in them so it was obvious I was out of the picture. And he had mentioned he didn't do long distance. But is it bad that I'm upset that he didn't even want to try?! It's not like he is moving right away he is leaving until June? Maybe I'm just heartbroken I thought I meant more to him than an option. What do you guys think?
