Bleeding after miscarriage/D&C

I had a miscarriage/d&c procedure done Dec 9th. I had bleeding for about 3 weeks after. The bleeding finally stopped for a few weeks. When it lightly started up again, I thought it was my first regular period again, but it's been going for a few weeks, lightly, but pretty consistent. Sometimes it stops for an afternoon or day, but then comes back. Has this happened to anyone? Is this normal or should I be talking with my doctor? My doctor said it would be a couple months until my period was regular again, but it feels like it's not going to stop.
