What do you think? TMI

Sa
My last normal period was on November 23rd. I called my dr and made an appointment on January 13th. The appointment was two weeks later on the 27th. I started spotting on the 15th of January which lasted until the 21st when I started bleeding, but kept my appointment because I still wanted to talk to the doctor (it being my first obgyn visit ever.) I go to the appointment where the nurse (who was extremely RUDE) immediately rescheduled me for the next week and then sent me home because they couldn't do a Pap smear. I go in on Feb. 3rd, a week later, and I'm still bleeding heavily (5-9 pads a day) and bright red with a ton of clotting. I explained that I wasn't having any cramps and I wasn't in any pain, but the bleeding was super annoying. The same nurse or assistant (whatever she was) acted like it was a huge inconvenience that I still came in even though I was bleeding. I told her as soon as I was called back so that I didn't waste any of her time even. Then she told me that birth control was my only option, then I told her that I was ttc and wanted to know for sure what my options were. She proceeded to tell me that I won't get pregnant with periods like this, that my weight isn't helping (I'm 230lbs), and that the doctor is going to tell me the exact same thing, all the while she is eating her lunch, joking with other nurse/assistants, texting, and taking phone calls.
Well, I finally convinced her to let me speak to the doctor because at this point I had already been bleeding heavily for 2 weeks. He tells me that he wants to do bloodwork, and have me on birth control for a few months just to get everything regulated. I agreed. Well, the week after that, they get my bloodwork in so I go into the office so that he can go over it with me.
That same nurse/assistant calls me back and before I even get behind the door she's asking me why I'm there again in a very rude tone. In front of a full waiting room of people!! And I had to explain to her that I was there for the results of my bloodwork. She persisted questioning me before I was even out of the waiting room about the tests they did on my blood.
I finally get back to speak with the doctor and he said that it was obvious that I had PCOS and Hypothyroidism. (Which didn't surprise me because my mom had Hoshimoto's disease)...
He gave me a referral to a primary care doctor because I'm new in town. I'm making an appointment with them this weekend.
I started birth control on February 3rd and I'm still dealing with bleeding/ brown discharge. My question is Has anyone had this happen? Shouldn't the birth control pills stop the bleeding? I tried to get another appointment with my doctor but he can't see me for at least 3 weeks. Also, I'm going to look for another office to go to because that one nurse/assistant is too much for my patience...
