Anyone here have depression while pregnant?

I have clinical depression and am 8 weeks pregnant, and am emotional as fuck. I feel like mood swings in general from hormones are one thing, but adding depression on top of it is an entirely different nightmare altogether. Anyone else have any experience with this. And any recommendations?

I was quite depressed for the first couple months of my pregnancy, and it's actually pretty common for women to experience in the beginning. Your body is flooded with SUCH a high concentration of hormones, and it makes complete sense that emotions can be all over the place, up or down without reason. Once I got out of the first trimester, and the hormones leveled out, it really got better though.

One of the things I did during the beginning though was just stay busy. Activities don't necessarily help with depression, but they definitely helped keep my mind occupied throughout the day until my body could regulate better.

This is obviously just my experience, and you should talk to your doc if this has been going on for a while! When I talk to mine she really encouraged me to give the hormones a little time and keep myself busy.

Just to clarify guys, the depression was not triggered at pregnancy. I've been suffering for years. But the hormones and mood swings make it extremely amplified.

I have suffered since early teens, but depression and anxiety got worse after losing my my mum at 17 and been heavily medicated since, then my ex husband running off with another woman from work 4 years ago. I've met a wonderful man who works hard every day and adores me, but he's on the verge of leaving. I think I've forgotten how to be happy, or to let anything positive in cos in my head it can't hurt me if I dnt care as much and I won't go thru as much pain if I something happens or goes wrong. I'm now 8 wks nearly and doctor has taken me off all my meds. Im scared to death and feel useless. I feel like a complete fruit loop and I'm making happen what I'm scared of the most, I know this but still can't get a handle on things or stop pushing him away. It's a horrible feeling and ppl just tell you to think positive but when all you've had for 20 odd years is shit it's a little hard.

I was the Sam  with my fiancee was going to spilt up because of  my moods changes we was   arguing all the time and their was no hope for a relationship but then we find  out I was pregnant and everything just feel into places with all the symptoms I was having I could of easy have kills  him lol w  know are happy together I am 19 weeks nearly and are relationship it great moods have gone down still have  one or two but not everyday lol things get Better don't worrie xxx

Zoloft is completely safe on pregnancy, and is a huge help!

Have you been to the dr? They will make sure you are on the right medication first and will ensure you have  the right support. I'm still ttc my first so I can't give personal insight yet, but it seems a lot of people have this emotional roller coaster in pregnancy, do you have someone supportive around you for pregnancy stuff too?
