Would it bother you if:
You didn't know the full race of your SO? His mother is adopted and she never knew her birth mother, or anything about her. He is curious about where half of him comes from, but his mother won't help with it because she feels it's not important.
He is definitely a darker skin, but not African American, more like Native. I want to know for the future of our kids, because they most likely will have his darker skin. The adoption record is still on file, his mother just thinks it's not relevant, because she quote "wasn't raised by her" end quote. I know race doesn't matter, I'm not that kind of person. I just want to know for the sake of our future kids. Am I wrong? I don't know how to approach this, neither does he. All we know is that his biological grandmother was from Canada, which doesn't help much.
