Godmother advice and questions (Christian faith)

Jessizu • I wear lots of hats.

My SIL has been my prayer warrior in this verry trying and difficult pregnancy... Shes been through a lot praying for us all hours of the night, speaking to the elders at her church, and has been so supportive to me and my husband... She has wisdom and patience beyond measure and loves God and prayes tirelessly... My family is also supportive but has a long way to.mature in their faith and in their day to day life and ambitions... My husband and I would love for his sister, my SIL to be my sons Godmother... I didnt have godparents but my husband did so i know it wont be a big deal to my family but I had a few questions, just since Im not very informed on godparents... If anyone has advice that would be amazing..

1. Does there have to be a Godfather?.. She isnt married and I really dont see my brother or my BIL at this time becoming the fatherly figure and role model in faith that we desire for our son...

2. I would love to get her something special when she comes to visit.. (She lives in Chile btw and shes visiting 10 days after hes born for 2.5 weeks :)..) something significant and special on behalf of us and our son Isaac and our son who passed away Lucas... I would love some ideas..

3. For our faith we get babies christened to proclaim we will raise our son in a wholesome Godly home.. Then when hes of age and he decides for himself he can get baptised as his choosing.. Can we do that when.shes here? Even though he will be 10 days to 3 weeks old?

Thank you! She lives pretty far away but will have a big impact in our life and our sons life.. Thanks for your advice :)
